I need a fan controller hardware or software ...
win10 asus rampage v extreme mobo.

What software can i use i dont know what exists other than asus' ai suite stuff but obviously asus fanxpert doesnt want to install and work properly so they can forget that.
or what hardware do i buy out of these options? or suggest a different one if these options arent good enough.

so do i have to go and buy some fancontroller hardware thing and if so which one do i get? high end

Since you have an Asus motherboard they have a pretty top notch fan control software built right into the BIOS, or using the software based AI suite to control it in the OS. The headers would be capable of both PWM and DC voltage control which can be setup inside the BIOS.

Maybe get a small hardware controller, I've never had this issue because I have a controller on my case. Does your case have a door over the 5.25 bays? If it does, you could get a controller that goes in there and simply adjust your fans when need be, then close the door and pretend like nothing happened.

Sounds like you need to set them up in the bios and are currently set as a %. Software won't control them unless specified in the ufei.

one of the asus fanxpert things worked before but then i had to reinstall windows and now they fucked up. no clue what u said means too

Are your fans running 100% all the time. If they are then you need to change the settings there 1st. You can choose for them to run at a veery in speed or by percentage to your temp. If they are fixed rate, your software will not be able to control them and causing your error. They will need to be set to variable.

each fan header can be controlled separately or you could use the supplied quiet adapter that came with the fan. (To quiet them down until you find a controller you like)

Reset the settting for the Asus fan expert, they should work just as they did before unless you had issues with it and want to use something else.

idk what u mean resetting the setting, but if that assumes the sofftware works then no i cant cos the software aint installing/opening...

so then what other options are there to use something else hardware or software

Oh I think I might know why, when you download the zip folder of AI suite, make sure you go into properties and unblock the folder before unzipping, afterwards it should let you install without issue. It's a bit of a oddity they have with that folder for one reason or another.

Won't download? I usually never suggest this but install the Asua suite rom the cd then.As WL said already, Asus has top notch bios and software. If you cannot download or install a program, either it's being blocked by other software or is for the wrong version of your windows .

****EDIT: the folder in the downloads doesnt say compressed zip folder like some other folders do so i assume it should be ready to install****
last time i installed fanxpert i just downloaded it went into the folder in downloads and clicked setup and installed afaik. i dont understand zip stuff so i cant imagine i have done that. also theres no unblock/block thing in properties.

but ye i installed 7zip if thats even the right thing and tried doing whatever i did i dont know but it looked to me the file was alredy unzipped/open or whatever cos it wouldnt do anything

i just dont understand software and now my pc is so cluttered im gona reinstall soon anyway to get rid of all also fix that my other programs on my other screens flicker when i play a game on one screen. i just wanna know how to get this program working nowso i can install it fresh on a clean pc without trying 100 times cluttering everything.

couldnt find the cd in the mobo box so i imagine there might not have been a cd in the rampage v extreme box cos i usualy keep things tidy in their boxes.
also ik the thing i downloaded was under asus rampage v extreme->win10->fanxpert 2/3

yes very much... i given up on asus just wont work. so what other software can i use, or hardware if thats a must i dont know

Did it not even work just in the BIOS directly, without installing the AI suite software?

Another software based fan control is SpeedFan as long as it's setup correctly it can be quite versatile

The bios works for my main pc hoping it works permanently. So ty for that suggestion, i didnt even know it could do that in the bios, never seen the option too. Usualy the bios is too confusing for me too but this time i managed it. I paniced a bit earlier, playing cod and speccy said my ssd's was like 65c hot.

but im still stuck on what to do about my secondary pc's.
the speedfan software was way too confusing so i gave up on it after an hour of not understanding any of it.

Know of any software easy to use i can just move some dots on a chart like the bios or asus' fanxpert do for my other pcs?

also random question if u can answer - what is dc and pwm? in the bios if i clicked dc it had to run above 60% speed but pwm managed 20%

The BIOS tends to be the simplest without having to mess around with software, and yeah speed fan is a bit tricky to get the hang of once you get it though it does work quite well. If the other PC has an Asus motherboard it should have the customizable fan curves directly in the BIOS.

As for DC and PWM control the difference has to do with the fans your using if they are 3 pin fans they are only controllable via DC voltage control whereby 4 pin fans can do both, but is best suited for PWM as it gives it a larger controllable range especially in the lower RPM range:

oh i see so you can still control a 3 pin fan's speed but thats dc so its less controlable than these 4 pins... sense makes ty :)
