right now, a 980Ti with 6gb of vram can push 3x 1080p with high settings at 60fps i suppose...

i recommend 6gb vram or above for the long run

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I would recommend a R9 or R7 (Extreme/Enthusiast Grade) with 4-6GB because EyeFinity if you are using a multi-monitor setup because it is much eaiser to use than nVidia's rubbish multi-monitor support. Home it helps. :D

On a side note: If you are going to get an nVidia card, If you want an extreme/enthusiast grade card, get the GTX 980ti. The Titan X & Titan Z are overpriced pieces of junk.

well he can run dual r9 390x or 390 for 8gb vram for almost similar performance to a single 980Ti (a lot of factors but meh)

but i generally wouldnt recommend running dual gpu unless you're already using the best one

how i wish i can recommend fury X to people that needs more vram than 4gb ._.

Hello! I'm building my first PC in a bit and I wanted to know how much VRAM I actually need.  I'm going to run 3 1920×1080 monitors at 60Hz.  I game ocationally like GTAV, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 1 and 2, CS:GO, and Gary's Mod.

Thanks!

4GB would be enough for that, but more never hurts...

I run a GTX 980 TI 6GB card on three monitors because they are 1600p, so just over 12 million pixels.  You'll be running just over 6 million pixels, 4GB is enough for that.

GTA V is probably the biggest memory hog there, turn it all up and it will be pushing it, but you should really be fine.

So your options are a GTX 970 4GB card or a R9 390 8GB card.  Both are going to perform about the same, give or take, but of course the extra RAM might be nice down the road, assuming the R9 380 is fast enough then.

Of course, this is all moot if you have the money to get a GTX 980 TI, if that is in the budget, get it and turn it all up to max and enjoy. :)
