My pc is

cpu: amd a10 6700

gpu: gtx 750 ti

12gb of ram

1tb hdd

an optical drive

350w psu

the problem is i got the pc prebuilt then added in the gpu. So the psu is pretty bad and only meant for the parts it came with originally, although the gtx 750ti says it requires a 350w psu minimum. I put the parts into pc part picker and it said it would use arounnd 275w. Will i be fine or should i be safe and get a new psu?

Here is a 500w for $54 with s $20 mail in rebate. Better to not max out your PSU.

Yeah a new PSU us probably a good idea. I always suggest SeaSonic and XFX because you can't go wrong with any if there PSUs.

You should get a new psu first.  For a budget psu go for the corsair cx750.  If you can afford go for the hx750i.  Then go for a gpu like the gtx 950, gtx 960, or the gtx 970.

Don't get any Nvidia GPU below a 980ti (950 the exception) unless you need CUDA or lower power, AMD are faster in every other bracket

@Stealth80 this is a budget upgrade for BenKavanagh so it is alright to get the gtx 950, gtx 960, or gtx 970.

depends on the actual budget but generally speaking 950< 960 < 380 < 380X < 970  < 390 <980 < 390X < Fury < 980ti, and the AMD solutions are usually cheaper provided the OP sorts that power supply to something like a 650w

I don't know if Ben Kavanagh just wants a Nvidia or a Radeon gpu but I recommend Nvidia because they partner with game companies and as a result the game companies provide extra features to the Nvidia users.  A game that gives extra features to is Nvidia users is Witcher 3.

don't get caught up in that marketing, you simply buy the fastest card you can afford in your budget. Gameworks isn't a game changer

You should be fine, but what's the PSU?

1 hour ago, Aytex said:

750 ti's TDP is around 190w plus the A10 is is around 70-90W, your cutting the edge

i would get a new psu

The 750 Ti is a 60w TDP card. It also doesn't draw more than 80wDC during furmark. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_750_Ti_OC/23.html

The psu is pretty bad, stock psu came with the prebuilt pc and only 350w. Will i be ok?

Prebuild as in a Dell or the likes? Generally speaking, the PSU in these prebuilds are at least decent and is capable of outputting what it is rated at continuously.

For example, the Hipro build Dell H305P-01 was able to do what it is rated for and more, while performing electrically well in respect to voltage regulation and ripple suppression.

Since your system will draw under 200wDC during gaming load, I would like to say that you will be ok.

Btw, have you check to see whether or not you could upgrade your PSU? As some prebuilds will use a proprietary cables, in which you can't easily swapped out.

For a 750ti get something like a Corsair CX430M or EVGA 500B.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Of course, I know that, or else I wouldn't have said "your system will draw under 200wDC during gaming load" in a later post. You, on the other hand, said the TDP of the 750 Ti is 170w (which is not). What you did not said was a system power draw with an 750 Ti is 170w (which is about 50% of the power supply rated DC output).

Those benchmarks you'd posted is leaving out some important details (which is why you should always source the original review rather than hotlinking an image)

Anandtech: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7764/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-and-gtx-750-review-maxwell/10

With an Intel Core i7-4960X @ 4.2GHz, the Zotac shows a power draw of 190w.

Techspot: http://www.techspot.com/review/783-geforce-gtx-750-ti-vs-radeon-r7-265/page2.html

With an Intel Core i7-4770K, Crysis show a power draw of 139wAC from the wall. Due to the fact that some energy will be lost during the AC-DC conversion of the power supply the DC power draw will be less.

Legit Reviews: http://www.legitreviews.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-2gb-video-card-review_135752/5

With an Intel Core i7-4960X @ 4.0GHz, the highest power draw had shown to be 244wAC from the wall. Again, efficiency of the power supply.

In the TechPowerUp review I had posted, it shows that it had a power draw during Furmark (a power bug) of 74wDC using a $1500 equipment to isolate the power draw from the entire system. It will be more accurate in comparison to a ~$20 meter as well as reviewers who are testing their GPUs across various of platforms and power supplies of different efficiency levels.

The A10 6700 system had shown to draw up to 103wAC at the wall without a graphic card. http://techreport.com/review/24954/amd-a10-6800k-and-a10-6700-richland-apus-reviewed/3
