Don't get the EVGA NEX series as it's pretty low quality, go with a GS, GQ, or G2 series.

My vote goes for the 390 due to the extra vram compared to the 970 and has better price to performance than the 980/390x.

Change out the PSU to a EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GQ or G2.

My vote goes to the Sapphire R9 390. Invest the extra money into a SSD like the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB.

I would personally forget about the i5 and go i7, the price won't be that much of a jump.

And I also personally like full size cases for expansion later on, but thats personal.

@HKZeroFive Yes, I'm going to choose another psu.. Thank you, by the way, maybe I'm still not gonna buy a ssd, I got a tight budget, maybe I'm just gonna add an ssd, a couple months after I have a budget.. :)

@Talamakara You're right but I think for now, I'm just gonna go for i5, beacuse i7 cost about $100 or more, but maybe after months or years, I'm gonna jump in to i7, I'm just gonna use my pc to play games..

The biggest problem with not going an i7 now, is 2 years from now you possibly won't be able to buy an i7 for your board and knowing nothing about you, i don't think 100 bucks on a build is that much. (personal opinion)

Just no.

The extra performance does not outweigh the extra cost.

Also please change your profile pic it is very absurd . asshole.

Why i7? there would be only a limited performance upgrade, not worth the price.

Dont worry .. even if you want an i7 (Are you going to edit video or just game?) you can get one cheaper in the future than now, as prices will go down with the introduction of newer CPUs. Personally, I dont think the hundred bucks is worth it. Get yourself an SSD or something if you ABSOLUTELY have to spend it

That really depends on the i7, you can get significant performance jumps for very little money. I personally build computers that i don't have to worry about upgrading for a long period of time.

However I do agree with your comment about the ssd. But again I personally think she should be buying 1 ssd and 1 platter drive, SSDs are getting better but still not cheap. SO she can install windows and the basics on the ssd and then everything else on the platter drive.

grab an MSI 390/390x. Quietest and best overclocking 390 in my experience. According to Jayztwocents, the power draw is about 60 watts more then a 970 on average under full furmark load (worst case scenario, basically like having a lightbulb on), but performs better than a 970 in DX11 in most titles, and you can bet that the 390 will trample the 970 once dx12 is mainstream. your only reason to go with a 900 series at this point is if you already have a Gsync display, or you need Cuda hardware for a specific reason.

A few thoughts:

First, the i5-6600K is a great CPU, it is easy to overclock and provides great performance for the price.  Don't bother with the i7, unless you're serious about content creation, it isn't worth the money if gaming is your focus.

Second, for $10 more, you can get a 240GB SSD.  Ok, smaller than the hard drive, but it will make your machine feel SO much faster.  If you haven't used a SSD before, you don't know what you're missing here.  If you can't, you can't, but it makes ALL the difference in the world.

Third, that power supply is not a good choice for a budget build, and WAY overkill for a single GPU.  For that machine, I'd use a EVGA 600B which is $45 on Amazon right now, it has all the power you need for any single video card, and on that budget, you aren't going to be doing two cards anyway.

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-BRONZE-Continuous-Warranty-100-B1-0600-KR/dp/B00EON40CS/

Fourth, that is a really expensive case for a $1K build, but it is a personal decision, so fair enough.  A Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 is half the price and will likely meet your needs.

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Carbide-SPEC-01-Gaming-CC-9011050-WW/dp/B00I6BJATW/

Finally, video card.  The AMD cards provide more VRAM, but unless you're playing at 4k, it hardly matters, today anyway.  What resolution are you playing at and what games?  For 1080p, the R9 390 and GTX 970 will both play anything at ultra detail.  For 1440p, you'll have to dial a few things back a bit, but you likely won't notice it when running and gunning, just the pretty static shots.

For that price point, my suggestion is a GTX 970, if for no other reason than it consumes almost half the power of the R9 390 card (150 watts vs 275 watts)

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Quieter-Graphics-04G-P4-2974-KR/dp/B00NVODXR4/

If your heart is set on team red (AMD), then this one:

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R9-390-GAMING-8G/dp/B00ZPOAYG6/

Same price, same performance (give or take 5%, depends on game), the AMD card has twice the VRAM, but sucks power like no tomorrow.

Yes, but you can get 390 cards for $300, but I wouldn't buy either of them.  Video is one place I don't buy off brands.  Motherboards is the other.  His choice of the MSI gaming is a nice board.  Cheaper Z170 boards exist, but that isn't the place to save $10.

The MSI 390 is about $330, the MSI 390x is $50 more.

For $50, meh, I don't think you'd notice the difference in a side-by-side blind comparison.  The OP is on a budget, so every $50 counts.  He didn't spec a SSD, frankly I'd save the $50 and buy a 240GB SSD boot drive before I'd buy the X over the non-X 390.

Of course, he hasn't said what games he is playing.  a GTX 960 or R9 380 might actually be enough for now, and the new cards are coming out later this year.  If he is gaming at 1080p and doesn't require ultra max super detail on every single game, frankly the 960 or 380 are fine and cost a LOT less.  ($180 each)

Your budget is just fine, look at Anandtech's reviews of games on the i5 and i7, there is very little difference between the two.  Not the sort that is remotely worth another $130 in price in any case.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9483/intel-skylake-review-6700k-6600k-ddr4-ddr3-ipc-6th-generation/21

Look at the games, there is basically no difference between the i5-6600K and the i7-6700K.

I choose the gigabyte, because of its price compare to msi radeon r9 390.. I could save about $30..

I change my power supply to evga P2 because it's on the same price with the G2.

I change my western digital caviar blue 1tb to an ssd, and I choose sandisk because it it the cheapest right now and have so many good reviews.

Guys please re-criticize this.. :)
