To this point, I suggest you just reinstall. The bloody thing is a mess shouting one problem after another..

Lately I have been having a problem where something causes my pc tower to stay on after shutdown. I was going through my event logs and found this -

The Sync Host_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly.  It has done this 1 time(s).  The following corrective action will be taken in 10000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Sometimes I am able to shut down my pc all the way. The times when I had to flip the power switch on my pc to turn it off as the tower stayed on; the error above, I found almost always right before a bad shutdown. I am wondering if this is the program that is stopping my pc from shutting down completely. Anyone have any ideas?

I think this service is related to OneDrive, if you are not using it, disable it.

It did not fix the problem sadly enough. Could it be that there is an extra power supply cable hanging around as I only needed another 2 pin for the graphics and the only cable that I could find was a 6+2 pin cable

that bsod can occur from faulty drivers to BIOS problems.

There was a new bios update for my motherboard. I downloaded it, but do not know how to install it.

Just checked my drivers in safe mode and there was a yellow triangle next to system firmware and my monitor.

So at the end it might be actually the BIOS?

Only way to find out is to update your BIOS. Usually done via flashing with USB. I suggest you look up on how to do it as if something goes wrong your mobo can be rendered useless.

Tried that... No luck... PC tower still hangs after shutdown

@ModuleLFS

Still getting that sync host error and this error has also started showing up during shutdown - The server CortanaUI.AppXd4tad4d57t4wtdbnnmb8v2xtzym8c1n8.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I'd like to actually see the detailed event viewer entries on those.

@PhoenixArising I did some research and turns out these Session services belong to the Store app.

Do you use it? I can't think of any other method except attempting to disable these services through command prompt.

As for Cortana, ignore that one, I get it too.

I have never used the store app and do not plan on using it anytime soon. How can I disable it through the command prompt?

sc config "OneSyncSvc_Session1" start= disabled
sc stop "OneSyncSvc_Session1"

Also make sure your command prompt is elevated (administrator) else it will just yell with access denied.
