Yes, it would reduce the possibility of building up static electricity.

Yes so would a fully concrete room as would ... .  Obviouslly some precautions should be taken like not shuffling your feet on carpet whilst building, but anti-static measures soon go into 'diminishing returns' territory.

IMHO Too much is made of static discharge Don't get me wrong ESD can do terrible things to electronics but the probability of you actually having an ESD large enough to cause damage is not worth worrying about, beyond the not doing 'silly things' stage.

Tell that to the company I work for. We take every precaution possible.

No they don't.

They take every sensible precaution not every precaution possible.

Tables are grounded, ESD smocks are worn, everyone is grounded, and humidity levels are high. Everything is kept inside ESD boxes and bags, and if finished products do not have ESD caps on connectors, it's considered a defect.

Ah but is everyone naked?  No! Then they don't take every precaution possible.

BTW for the absence of doubt → ;)

That's actually what the ESD smocks are for. Any clothing that is creating static electricity goes to the smock.

Besides, you found one thing only. Being naked would be illegal.

The entire thread was about being naked is it any wonder that was the aspect I used.

Besides assembling electronics onto a board as a company a thousand times a day is a totally different use case to that of a home builder using that completed board once maybe twice a year
