Is there a router that has Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 port/s, external antennas and is capable of 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz network SIMULTANEOUSLY?

Tomek20225

Hi :D
I was thinking about buying a NAS. Basically I had got everything planned, but my mom said no. Eventually, thanks to that, I started to interest about networking overall and realized, that there are so many things that bottleneck me and will continue to do it, like my data plan.
The thing is, that if I got a better data plan, then my router would be bottlenecking it. The one that I use at the moment isn't even Gigabit and has only 4 RJ-45 plugs. Also it can deliver only 2,4Ghz network.
The obvious upgrade is a Gigabit router + cheap Gigabit switch + better data plan + 5Ghz network. I've even found some really cool and cheap ones. I looked for "dual band", because I thought that it can deliver 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz network simultaneously, which is super important to me, because, for instance, our Smart TVs and phones use 2,4Ghz.
Later on I realized that it's not what "dual band" means.
And here I'm, asking you awesome guys a question:
Is there a cheap (>85$) Gigabit router out there that is capable of delivering 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz at the same time? Not just one or another? Is it even possible?

Thanks in advance!
Thomas

I was going to mention my router, but it has everything except external antenna.

Its a D-Link DSL-2880AL. I can use the 2.4GHz and 5GHz (AC1200) bands at the same time, it apparently (never tested) can connect at least 10-15 devices over wifi if not more, its got a USB 3.0 port on the back, and it has 4x gigabit ports

I'll definitely check it out, but tell me more about it. Does it really deliver 2,4 and 5Ghz at the same time without hiccups? How far does it's signal reach? Have you had any problems with it? I've heard that it has some configuring problems.

Yep. I was using it at my Aunt's when I was staying there. It was like this:

  • My desktop on 2.4GHz
  • My laptop on 5GHz (USB adapter)
  • My phone via 2.4GHz
  • My Aunt's desktop via GbE
  • My Aunt's iPhone via 5Gz
  • My Cousin's laptop via 2.4GHz
  • My Cousin's iPad via 2.4GHz

With all of the devices it was managing, it had no problems at all.

ASUS RT-AC88U ?!

just check ASUS's site: https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/Wireless-Routers-Products/

I have the lower in the range RT-AC66U. I've got a bunch of mixed 2.4 and 5 GHz band devices on it no problems and stable. Haven't tested range since my house is pretty small anyway. I got this to get out of the congested 2.4 GHz band. No one else near me uses 5 GHz yet so it is all mine!

It does have external antennae which can be removed/replaced. USB2 only though, but I've never used them myself.
