Except you could fit an i7 into the budget

and if your display is only 1080p a 390/970 is a bit overkill, also a 390 is going to be faster than a 970

If my build ends up going over after shipping get a 120gb sandisk SSD instead of the 250gb samsung. Or dont get the SSD and just add it later on.

Well AMD has a shadowplay equivalent, though with an i7 you should be using OBS to record your gameplay footage, as it's going to give you a lot more control compared to shadowplay or AMD's thing.

Also why would you want to pay extra for G-sync? Most G-sync displays only include a single display port input option, and they function exactly the same when free-sync is implemented correctly, no real reason to pay extra

Starting at the bottom with 1080p 144hz TN

Free-sync 189

G-sync 259

Probably the 390 given that you save money on your display, and that it looks like it's going to support DX12 better than current gen Nvidia cards, and in addition it has 125% more VRAM, not that you'll ever actually need 8gbs of VRAM

Although again, if your display is only 1080p these cards are more for 1440p gaming and are going to be overkill for a 1080p 60hz display. so go for like a 380/X if you only have a 1080p display and get a higher end display, a 4k free-sync IPS display is only 359, though 27" isn't too big for productivity
