Monitors w/ Usb Ports & Peripherals Plugged Into It

JLCitadel

Is it possible to use the usb ports on my monitor to have a mouse or keyboard hooked into?

(Tried before but it didn't work, wondering if I'm missing software)

i think it can, but you need the USB link from the monitor to the PC because otherwise it won't work

Beyond the HDMI cable I used at the time nothing else connected my monitor to my computer, so what not sure what you mean by "monitor hub into pc"

It has to have a USB output to the computer for the USB ports on the monitor to work.

The USB ports on the monitor are just passthroughs to the computer, no USB signal is carried by the display connector.

There should be a cable that goes from the monitor to the computer for the USB hub.

That's what I was thinking, so for a usb output do I just use usb->usb? or something different?

something like this. the fat end goes into the monitor and connects to the PC

Oh wow, I had no idea that's what that was for. Thanks! I've got a ton of cables I can look through pretty quick (<3 zip ties) so I'm sure I've got one on hand, if not I know what to look for.
