You have all the parts but the cpu. You didn't get a mainboard before knowing which cpu you are going to get, right? o.O

CPU: i7-4770k (LM modded) - MB: GA-Z87X-UD3H - RAM: HyperX, 16GB 1866MHz - GPU: Palit GTX 980Ti Super - Storage: 1TB HDD + 500GB/120GB SSD (850 Evo/840) - Monitor: Predator XB271HU - PSU: 700W BeQuiet 80+ Gold

well he can't get skylake so I guess really the best would be 4690k. in that price range that is

Well I was trying to find out which chipset he got, k-edition chip on an h87/h97 would be pretty pointless.

ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 and sorry for the wait i had to go somewhere

The i5-4690 is the best cpu you can get for $300 CAD. It's a very strong gaming cpu. You can't overclock on an H97 board. At least not overclock anything other than toys like the Pentium.

i was wondering about the i5 4460. that also cant be overclocked right ?

Ideally, you don't really want to overclock the 4460. If you can afford it, go with the 4690k. Best of the i5s, bar the 6600k.

Also, once you have everything up and running, I've got news of another settlement in need of your assistance.

Nope not really. You would need a 4xxxk (unlocked) processor. But then you then also need a Z97 Motherboard instead of a H97.

The i5 4460 will handle the new games fine. Provided with an adequate GPU of course.

CPU: i7-12700KF Grill Plate Edition // MOBO: Asus Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 // RAM: 16GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200MHz CL14

GPU: MSI GTX 1080 FE // PSU: Corsair RM750i // CASE: Thermaltake Core X71 // BOOT: Samsung Evo 960 500GB

STORAGE: WD PC SN530 512GB + Samsung Evo 860 500GB // COOLING: Full custom loop // DISPLAY: LG 34UC89G-B

It's a strong gaming cpu, but I'd pay the $17.63 CAD more for the i5-4590. The i5-4590 will run your games at its 3.5 GHz quadcore turbo, while the i5-4460 is only capable of 3.2 GHz on quadcore loads. I'd take the almost 10% higher clock in a second for the 7% higher cost I'm seeing on Canadian pcpartpicker. I think the i5-4590 is the best bang for your buck gaming cpu on Haswell.
