It's horribly worded, but I understand it as a sort of "buy two, get a third free"  deal

The second choice is kind of confusing. " Get one of the two entrees free when you purchase a second one " 

 

Wouldn't you have already payed for both of them? Or does it mean something like "buy one get one free"?

It's actually not confusing at all: you purchase 2 and 3rd one is free. There's no purchase of a second entry if there wasnt a purchase for the first.

When you buy 2, you get a 3rd one free of your choice.

e.g. McDs

Bought a Big Mac and Chicken sandwich combo meal. You got a Premium Snack wrap combo meal for free

purchase 1= Big Mac

purchase 2 = Chicken sandwich

free = Premium Snack wrap

Your 3rd entree is free from the 2 entrees that you have already purchased.

e.g. McDs

Bought a Bic Mac and Chicken sandwich combo meal. Out of those two, you can get another Big Mac or Chicken sandwich combo meal for free. But if you were to pick the Preimum snackwrap, then you'll have to pay for that.

purchase 1 = Big Mac

purchase 2 = Chicken sandwich

free = another Big Mac or Chicken sandwich

pay extra = Premium snack wrap

BK has 5 for $4 but its tiny crap, Wendy's is actually a meal.

Not really. The BK one is all dollar menu size, Wendy's gives you meal size fries and drink

 

McDonald's was trying with the 2 for $2.50 but I guess it wasn't profitable or people didn't buy it. That was pretty much marked up dollar menu items

I've checked, Wendy's are dollar menu items or the smallest portion of their sizes that's on promo. 4 piece nuggets ain't a large or regular portion.

Sir, I go to Wendy's 3-4 times/month (DON'T JUDGE ME). The fries and drink included are the same size as the one you will get in a meal (med.). The dollar fries and small drink ($1.70) are much smaller. The nuggets are $1 but the bacon cheeseburger is $1.80! Yes, that is more than a $4 value but that's the point - you save $1-2 by not getting options.

 

Trust me, I'm a Wendy's expert

 

Also I live in Central NJ and I know Wendy's in other areas have various pricing so it might be different by you. And, Wendy's by me actually removed the dollar menu; you can only order certain things for $1 if you specifically asks for it.
