HI, I'm here to help anyone that is planning to get a computer, whether it's building or buying a prebuilt PC, and give the pros and cons of both.

Prebuilt PC-

Pros: -doesn't take much time to set up, you take it out the box, plug it in, and you're pretty much set.

Cons of pre-builts, actual and potential:

  • bloatware
  • cheap components to save on costs

Pros, actual and potential:

  • you already mentioned one aspect, runs right out of the box
  • components could be "tested" or "selected" to be compatible
  • OS already prepared, just need to register a user account

anything else?

Prebuilt PC-

prebuilt:

- gets warranty of some sort

- good for people who dont wanna touch their pcs due to paranoia

- cost slightly more (factor in warranty and services, it'll even out tbh)

custom:

- get to choose your own parts for your own custom needs

- have fun building it

- knows how to diagnose if something went wrong and is most probably able to fix it

these are the few main characteristic for both i guess

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Pre-builts fall into two categories; The big brand 'Gaming PCs' which are mostly rubbish, and may have non-standard sized components that make future upgrades trick. And PCs from small boutique builders who will build it at least as well as you could, and offer almost unlimited choice of parts as they are built to order. They are very different.

Certain builders won't put bloat ware on, actually, meaning that building it yourself is cheaper, more fun etc, while prebuilts are easier, quicker (sometimes), yet more expensive.

Prebuilts:

-for people who are new into computers

-for ones who need a copy of Windows and an antivirus for free, cuz above

-for ones who just don't want to mess with all the computer components-they just want plug and play

Custom

-infinite customisability

-generally for PC experts and enthusiasts

-lower cost
