If you wanted to play Witcher 3 I think I would just go for the 650ti at minimum. I don't think the 750ti is worth almost double the price of you're just going to buy one of the new cards anyway.

uhm... the best price to performance would be the 650 ti. But i would still go for the 750ti because its new and has 2gb of vram

750 Ti is the same performance as a 660

I'd go for a 2nd hand 7870 and get much better performance

Going to buy a 2nd hand gpu to slap into my hp computer (with an athlon x4 640) to do me until there is a few new polaris and pascal gpu's on the market.

These are my options:

GTX 550ti  1gb for €40

GTX 650ti for 1gb €70

Radeon HD7770 1gb x-edition €65

GTX 750ti 2gb €120 (NEW)

The main games I want to run are Xcom 2 and TW Warhammer and if possible WItcher 3 at some kinda playable low settings.

These are the prices in Ireland so the're worse than USA but I just can't decide what's the best option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance to any responders.

I would say look for a used 7850 or even a 7950. I dont know how prices are in Ireland but a 7950 is about 120 USD

Those 7000 series cards you all mentioned are around 110-120 euro. Thanks for the advice, I had not thought of those options

@wackywobbler

Yeah if you are upgrading to pascal. Just buy the cheapest 7870 or 7950.

Ya it is only a temporary card until the new gen comes out but I think the cheapest of those options with the 2gb is the best middleground

7950 is a good 25% above a 7870 and has 3GB vs 2GB but a 7870 is already more than capable

Come to think of it I think AMD and Nvidia are releasing some info on their upcoming cards later today at GDC so that might give me an idea of how long I will have this card in use before upgrading

They are due in the summer for the 980 and 390X replacements.

honestly - my 280 (7950 GHz Ed.) is still capable of running games. Witcher 3 on Medium runs with 55fps

A friend's 280X (7970) does high settings at 50fps in Witcher 3 easily
