I have 6 IDE DVD drives, 2 IDE CD drives, 6 40gb and 1 28gb IDE drives with Mac OSX, somewhere around 10.2-10.4 on them.

What do you think these are worth, if at all?

i managed to sell some IDE CD drives for $2 each so maby that xD

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Well, let's start with the IDE DVD drives. If they're DVD-RW than $10 each possibly.

CD-only IDE drives are worthless.

Possibly sell the hard drive bundle (all of them) for $30-40 possibly.

Good luck, selling older hardware is very hard.

Unfortuatly, they are CD-RW, DVD-ROM

Good news, one of the CD drives was actualy DVD.

Thanks. They are from 10 emacs I got for free. I have a whole box of their guts, seems like the only sellable parts are the hard drives and DVD drives, no one wants emac motherboards unfortunatly.

Need to get rid of this big stack

I had an eMac but due to its terrible specs (it was a base model one with maxxed out RAM) I got rid of it.

Do you have any computer-illiterate relatives? 'Cause if you do build them a PC (just an older one using IDE and LGA775 with a Core 2 Duo).

Maybe sell the entire bundle as a bundle. People love bundles of computer parts. Put a price of $50 for it.

I could.

I didnt have to take them apart, but i figured selling 50lb large computers would not be profitable with shipping, so I took apart 8 and kept 2 in my closet.

Not really any competer-illeterate relatives.

Infact, this is my cousins set up

Ok then.

That makes me jealous :(

Just keep them, I guess. If you do computer repairs something you'll find is that people will bring in computers with dead hard drives. Have them handy for testing purposes.

Other than that, it may be worth just binning them. No-one really wants IDE drives anymore with SATA drives so cheap and the speed of them now too (you know how cheap SATA burners are, $20AUD).

That's all the advice I've got, good luck. It may be worth a try to try and give them to someone who uses older hardware.

EDIT: Actually first take one of the drives apart if you have never done so. The internals of hard drives are so cool, just don't snap the platter. It shatters, literally. Then just kick all of the drives over. It'll be super fun. :P

Put them in a carboot sale. Older 'collectors' (I guess you could call them that) love to get all of the little things. Put each drive in for $5 each and do a special deal of some form, maybe buy 2 get 1 at half price, Idk :P.

We live in the generation where money is important. You'll find a way to sell them, trust me.

True. Im collecting all the G4 computers, I have an imac G4, powermac g4, ibook g4, powermac g4 cube, and emac (g4).

And I spent some money looking for the apple monitor, the speakers, and everything, and am still looking for the 17" monitor, mac mini g4, powerbook g4, powermac g4 quicksilver, the crt monitor, and other acceories. So some people might want my emac parts.

Wow man, you're dedicated. I've thought about getting a collection started but I've got nowhere to put it and I'm broke. Literally.

G4 Quicksilver's are pretty cheap now. I tried to buy one but I got outbid on eBay.

Also, good luck! I love collectors who spend time looking for all of the stuff in their collection.

Also, all G4 stuff actually has plummeted on eBay. It's worth next to nothing. I've seen PowerBook G4's going from anywhere below $100AUD and most are in pretty good condition.

Well good on you man! It looks sick and I hope it goes well for you. I wanna have just old computers but I've got no room in my room right now.

Yeah, i mostly stick to craigslist due to better deals, but I'll go on eBay as well.

The cube is worth a bunch though

Yeah, I know.

I've seen deals with the monitor going from anywhere above $150AUD. That's a lot of money over here.

It's really cool and hopefully the G4 gains a lot of value over the next few years.
