GTX 970 and alternatives

Hi guys! I'm having trouble choosing what video card to buy (nvidia or amd). My budget limits me to a 970. :( care to suggest a GTX 970 card or alternatives? Thanks! Btw, i'm planning to play The Division.

8gb ram 1600

Corsair VS 650

WD Blue Caviar 1TB

MSI GTX 750 OC 2GB

Laptop: HP Pavilion Power 15-cb002ne

I'm more inclined to say that PSU isn't suitable for a card like the GTX 970. I'd look to replacing it.

 

 

Otherwise, the R9 390/GTX 970 are both good choices.

Amd certainly has some advantages in this price point. a 390 will have twice as much memory, is a little faster, and freesync monitors are less expensive than g sync

at this price point a R9 390 is the best option.

Go on ebay and get yourself a card for $100 cheaper.  Don't be scared off, they have a money back guarantee.  I've bought two 970's off ebay for ~250$ each and both are now overclocked to over 1600mhz boost.

The 390 is actually a bit cheaper.  If you have the PSU and it's not hotter than hell where you live, get the 390.

Maybe I just won't game on those days :D

Perhaps put back my old GTX 650ti and play some older games.

I guess I'll go with the 390. Thanks for the advice guys! Though maybe I'll replace my PSU first.
