I currently have this router with my 18mbps internet speed, and am upgrading to xfinity's 150mbps however I need to buy my own modem. I was looking at the modem that is paired with this router is normally this model. The title says that is can be limited to 143mbps and i dont think the  7 difference is that big of a deal however if there is a better option im all for it.

I'd prefer using the SURFboard modems. http://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-SURFboard-SB6141-DOCSIS-Cable/dp/B00AJHDZSI

Although this endorsement does not extend to integrated modem gateway things as I dislike those. I run multiple modems (cable, dsl, 4g, dialup) to a pfsense box that serves as the router and multi-wan load balancer.

I trust the brand (used to be Motorola) better. I even have an old Motorola cable modem I got off ebay that was clearly dipped in salt water or some other corrosive mist and rusted pretty badly and it works great with my Cable.

If you want the top end stuff you can also get. (You don't need it though)

Compatibility listing is here.

Another thing to note is I think your 150mbps plan is for the download speed and 20mbps for the upload.
