34" Curved Display; Is It Worth It

I am looking to get a PC with a 6700K (OC'd) and a GTX 980 Ti. The reason I'm shopping for a 34" is because I'm getting a smaller standing desk and 3 24" monitors is too much.

First off, would that be enough to run modern games at high on a 34" monitor? I will be gaming, but majority of the time would be work/photoshop/coding. If not, should I wait till nVidia releases their new cards? (I don't want to wait till Q3-4.)

Second, with all of the negative reviews around curved 34" displays, is it work risking the large cost? Lastly, what is the most reliable 34"? LG, Acer X34, or Asus's upcoming panel?

Thanks all

Yes, 980ti + 6700k is just fine for ultrawide 1440p. And I'd get the Acer X34 since it has G sync and runs at 100hz. And Acer Panels look great.

Current PC: Origin Millennium- i7 5820K @4.0GHz | GTX 980Ti SLI | X99 Deluxe

The hardware should be more than adequate to run this display. I'm building same specs pc and I've done my research. And your use case seems similar to mine, I bet you'll love the screen real estate without the distracting bezels you get with 34" 1440p display.

Can you point me to some. I'm saving up for 1 and don't want to make a costly mistake.

Bear in mind that almost all curved ultrawides will have some amount of backlight bleed. If you can get one with minimal bleed then they are beautiful.

Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/rCdI2

Main negatives I've seen are: Coil wine, backlight bleed (is somewhat expected), scan lines, etc. I also have seen 2/3 positive reviews, but there is a good amount of people returning them. Just look on the Acer forum: http://community.acer.com/t5/Predator-Monitors/MULTIPLE-Problems-with-New-X34/td-p/390434
