Cheap Waterproof Camera for Timelapses

I am travelling to Iceland in about 3 weeks and I would like to take some timelapse of the drive.  I could set up my iphone in the car and mount it to the dash or just hold it there, but I want something outside the car.  I am looking for a camera that's waterproof (it rains and snows a ton in Iceland (especially in April)) and relatively cheap.  I was also looking to rent a gopro because I could use that for vlogging as well.  I am bringing along my 70D for the northern lights plus a michron by alpine labs to get timelapse of waterfalls and cities (and of course the northern lights).  So if anyone knows either a cheap gopro rental place, or a good waterproof camera that I can mount to the side of a car that has OK video quality, that would be greatly appreciated.

GoPro? or if you are on a budget there a other chinese brands like the SJCAM and Xiaomi.

^^^ this. By far the cheapest high quality gopro style camera. Not entirely sure if it comes with the water proof case though.

It does not. But resellers may include them as free stuff, or may also sell them to you at a bundle. etc. etc.
