PC Does Not Power Up, No LED Lights & No Fans Spinning

NavXIII
Go to solution Solved by Droidbot,

have you checked the connections to the 24pin connector if you suspect the mobo is not getting any power?

Brand new build from a few weeks ago. I decided to add in a spare fan I had laying around. The fan worked and the system booted just fine. Then I decided to move the location of the DVD drive and throw in a stealth cover. That required to remove the radiator. So I unscrewed the radiator and held it in one hand and slid the drive into place, then I placed the radiator back (was a tight fit) and screwed it in. I plugged in the two cables for the drive, plugged in the power cable in the back, flipped the switch, and turned it on.

Nothing happened. I doubled checked the power cable to see if it was in all the way and tried using the power button on the mobo but still nothing. It doesn't even turn on for a second and I don't think the mobo is getting any power as any of the LEDs that would be on when the rig was turned off are also off.

So just making sure I read the post correctly, You did all of the changes with the system off correct?

If so, sounds like your PSU just died on you.

Check the Front I/O connectors, the power/restart connectors may have come loose.

Did it all with the power cable off and the switch on the off position.

I did check all connections, however after posting this I checked the 24pin connector again. It appears the little plastic hook is loose and flimsy and keeps sliding out just a bit. Loosening the cable in the back and pushing it all the way in seems to have fixed. it =D

I tilted the case to get a better look, then some LEDs went on and off randomly. Then I had the eureka moment. =D
