My friend is getting a new PC soon so he is going to let me use his old one. He never really used it because he got a PS4. He did upgrade it a bit by putting in 2 extra gb of ram and a gtx 960. He hasnt put that graphics card in there yet because he doesn't know how so I will. I was just wondering if it would run games like Fallout 4 smoothly because he really hasn't played on it except for Arma 2 once. Also, what cheap upgrades could I get for it?

If only he had put in a 380. I'd upgrade the psu first of all. Then an 860k with a TX3, then oc a bit. Then it'll play fallout.

lol, well if he did put a 960 in there which is pretty good

if you can get a i3 or a i5 with a h87/h98 motherboard you should be able to run fallout and arma with 60 fps on med-high settings

Oh yeah, good point. Well shit, my plan's hit a road block.

I've never heard of cybertronpc. I doubt they make their own mobos like dell but who knows. The x4 845 should be out soon. It can't be overclocked but should be faster than the 860k at stock

The thing is that A4 CPU is FM2 while the X4 860K and 845 are FM2+, so unless the OP can check what MB it has, compatibility isn't guaranteed

Ok so according to the website it's a

MSI A68HM-E33 V2 MSI FM2

Link

That should work with either the 860k or the 845

it has a 350w power supply you would need to upgrade that before even putting in the 960, and put in an 860k which you can find on ebay for about 50-70 used on ebay or around 80 on amazon, last week there was one on amazon warehouse for $50.

i would just pick up a PSU first, 500W or greater , then install the 960 and see what you get, eventually all upgrades will require a better PSU anyway, if it fits your needs then thats all you have to spend for now and you can just wait for a good deal on the 860k

$40 not a bad deal though it was $10 after rebate a month ago

if i post a link to amazon try to use the LTT affiliate code to help the channel http://www.amazon.com/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&tag=linustechtips-20
