Hello everyone!

My brother ordered his parts from Newegg.ca on Monday. Everything arrived except for the case, which is shipping from the US. (Hopefully from New York or New Jersey and NOT California :p)

We'd like to test it out and obviously, he'd like to start using it.

Would it be wise to run it without a case? His room door is always closed with no animals. It would only be temporary, probably until next week.

If so, how could we do it? Build it on the MOBO box? Inside the giant newegg box that the parts all came in? On a wooden slab?

Thank you! :)

build it on the top of the motherboard box

It's a anti-static test bench, but don't knock it off

You can, but it's a good idea to do something like Luke did in Scrapyard Wars: Make a platform out of wood, with motherboard stands, a place to put the drives, and a place for the PSU. Also a bracket to keep the PCI-e card in place.

It would take a day to make, but it's probably your safest choice.

You could also just place it on the motherboard box, but then there's a chance your PC would move around and potentially become damaged.

Yes, basically this. Make sure fans are clear of all cables and everything. And you have something solid to put your hard drive on (if your using one) (hardcover book will even work). The wood is also an option but the box is already the right size for the board. Obviously make sure whatever you use is antistatic and nonconductive.

this has ran in this shape the entire month of december.

just in case someone claims you'll break your hardware by running it outside the case, here's some proof its no problem.

This.

Made me cringe. o.O Lol...

it was there for insulation, behind it is a little door that leads into a useless hole, and it warped, letting in cold air.

so yeah, even the box a fractal design case in is very useful. (they're scandinavian, i bet they insulate their office like this xD)

i have since gotten rubber strips to seal up the door better.
