Looking To Get My First Mechanical Keyboard. Need Some Help/Advice.

So, as the title says, I'm looking to ascend the steps from my current keyboard (Razer DeathStalker - please don't hate me) to a mechanical keyboard.

At the moment my setup uses a KVM switch between my PC and my MacBook Pro, so the keyboard would have to be something that fits for both OS (not really an issue, only gripe is the different OS key layouts between Windows and Mac OS X).

Here's what I'm looking for with my new keyboard:

  • Cherry MX Red or Brown
  • Backlit Keys (single or RGB LEDs)
  • 10 Key-Less
  • Wrist rest (I'd prefer to have one built in or one that can be attached)
  • US layout (I live in the UK but I'm Canadian and can't get my head around another layout. Its seemingly impossible to get a US layout in the UK...)

At the moment I'm looking at 3 different keyboards, but either they're sold out or they are not available in US layout anywhere within the UK.

So I've come to the forums in search of some help and advice because my fingers deserve better.

I recommend the corsair. I spilt water all over my K70 and it took 0 damage.

Linus is my fetish.

Cm storm has great keyboards, I personally use the TK model.

They don't have a wrist wrest so you would need to buy one. But since the keyboards are cheap (but still very good quality) it shouldn't be too big of a difference

Longboarders/ skaters message me!

Yea and that's what made me interested in WASD originally but they don't offer backlit unfortunately

I've heard they're very very well engineered

They look great but US layout is impossible in the UK

From what I've seen the rapid-i tends to have backlight issues.

Have you looked at anything from ducky?

Of the three i would probably go with the k65.

I haven't to be honest - are they simple to buy? The website always looks a bit confusing.

I do really love the K65 but again US layout is impossible to find in the UK and everywhere, including Canadian sites seem to be sold out of it

Lol, manufactures are adding spill holes to almost all keyboards now, I guess they know their consumer market too well haha.

Quote me if you want me to reply.

Dude these guys cost like 40$ just to import in canada, I was checking for a cherry mx sample kit the otyher day and my order would have been around the 60$ mark. What's my point? I don't have one, just wanted to add my part.
