How much would you pay for this build used?

BuckeyeBadger

He's asking $600 but I feel like that is a little too high. I can build the same computer for about $700, brand new. I just worry about that CPU, that seems to be bottlenecking with that graphics card.

CPU: AMD FX6300 @ 4.3gHz
MOBO: ASRock 970 extreme 3 r2.0
GPU: Asus Radeon R9 290 direct cu II
CPU Cooler: Zalman
RAM: 16 GB of DDR3 1600 Kingston Hyper X
Storage: 240 GB Kingston SSD
2 TB of Western Digital Caviar blue HDD
PSU: Corsair CX750M
LG optical drive
Cooler Master Fan controller

Also, When going to check this computer out, what are some things to check for? I know to run AIDA64, MEMtest, and Furmark. Anything I missed?

That's just a bad computer. I wouldn't pay more than $500 CAD for that

Thanks,

Reese

Not really .... replace CPU/motherboard and better SSD and you should be golden. I would ask for price down maybe 400 dollars.

CPU & Mobo: £80 ($111)

GPU: £180ish ($250)

RAM: £40-50 ($62)

PSU: £35 ($48)

Overall, including it all around £350-400

I think you'd get more money selling it in parts.

Ask 400, if he doesn't budge, ask for all but the cpu and motherboard and see what he asks

Thanks,

Reese

You seem like you know what you're talking about mate!

The GPU is worth about 370 CAD at least.

$600 did seem way too high.... I can build the same PC on PCPartPicker for $700.

I would sell the CPU and Mobo together.

Then sell the GPU e.t.c

Keep the hard drives as they may come in useful in the future.

Offer $400, then haggle only back up to $500. Its not worth a penny more.

$300,-- and i will tell you why.

When you negotiate a price, tell the guy that you can partpicker a brand new i3-6100+r9-380 build for approx $500,-- (is true) with guarantees and even some free games an that is what his 2nd hand price should compete with. If he understand that and sticks around then you know have the upper hand in the negotiations, instead of a scenario where you say $400, you guys deal on $500. Now you can tell him will buy his rig for $300 max, else it is more wise to buy the brand new build mentioned above, which most of us know is bang4buck for sure (if he sticked around you know he will understand). $300 is a good deal, else i would prefer spending $200 more for the brand new i3-6100 build, with some free games and the guarantee that you can play most games next couple of years. It is not your fault skylake has been introduced and can be competitive on a low budget level if components are selected wisely.

Most people that offer second hand stuff ask way to much money. I never pay more then 60% max. on used goods, ever. In our example $500/$300 is the 60%. In my humble opinion 50% is more fair on used goods anyway, age or guarantee on/of used goods do not matter much to me when i buy second hand. I just want it cheap, greed is good!
