Hello, I have a question about how things work when buying PC-Disk and PC Download.

 

First of all I got to play The Open Beta and it was awesome and can't wait for March, 8th to come. I even made a friend to play with. I recommend it to everybody. But I have a question. I have a choice between buying the game from Steam and download it where my friend is, and buying it on Disk from the local store. Buying it on Disk is like $20 cheaper here, but my question is if I do buy it on disk, how do I play with my friend? I know the game is Uplay only - meaning it goes through Uplay even when using Steam. But does that mean that we will be able to play together? How does that work? And how Do I find him in the game? If you have played it you know that you can invite people around you (their avatar is near you). And the game is not like WOW where you choose the server, at least as far as I know - It wasn't like that in the Beta, so how do I find him if he isn't in the same server?

Doesnt matter if its on disk or from steam, it goes through uPlay and everyone will be playing together

It works the same as digital only you own it physically. You pop the disk in, install it and it will require you to log into Uplay etc etc, just like if you downloaded it off of Steam.

 

I played the beta but I'm not sure how you would contact him. I'm assuming there is a "contact" option in the menu @ full release.

the disc will likely just reroute you to download it through uplay anyway, so it really doesn't matter.

Even if your friend gets it off steam, it will likely just be a link to open up uplay...

 

I have a few games like the crew, and farcry 4 that just open in uplay when I press play in steam.

Hello just wanted to ask too if i get a physical copy of the game and install it on my laptop would i be able to copy the game to my desktop?

If you can move it to a USB/external drive, yes. I do it all the time.

in the game there were an option you press on Group management and you will see the names of people around you and you have the option to add them. But that is my concern. If he isn't in the same server how would he be near me in first place. But I think Uplay has an option where when you play the game at the moment and you have that person in your friend list you can invite them. I remembered he said something about an invite, but I am not sure how it works for sure. It is my first time buying a game on Steam or even Uplay.

You might have to install some dependencies if they aren't on the desktop, and Uplay, but yea, it should work.  And I have never played Splinter Cell: Blacklist, but it is third-person FPS, a little like The Last of Us and stuff.
