Project ProdiGOD

- Project ProdiGOD -

M-ITX -> M-ATX conversion.

As you might be able to tell by the silly name already, i'm currently in the process of converting a Bitfenix Prodigy from ITX to M-ATX. This build will probably feature a ASUS Maximus V Gene and an EVGA GTX 680. I will upload my 3D model design later this day. Hope some of you might find this interesting! Pictures and build-log coming up!

*** I want to point of that I am totally aware about the Bitfenix Prodigy M, but i simply dont like the internal layout ***

The Final Update

* Guys, any feedback would be awesome, as this is my very first true case mod. (Other than a sidepanel window on a Fractal Arc Midi) *

Hope some of you will find this interesting and maybe inspire you to do the same!  ;)

I am totally aware that there is a Bitfenix Prodigy M coming but to be honest, i dont like the fact that the motherboard is upsidedown, and the PSU is located at the front. :)

I think the prodigy looks good as is. It would be better if the rad support up top was better but I guess something like a h80i would be fine in a build that could go in one of these.

#5  I also like the looks of the case as it is. That's why i'm not chaning the look of it, only the inside to support a M-ATX motherboard.

The reason of doing this is to maybe do SLI, but still stay in the "small" form factor of this case.

@Butterfish, You may want to take a look at this. Honestly, in my opinion, this is probably the best way to turn the prodigy into an m-atx. http://www.overclock.net/t/1313366/complete-project-prodigious-ocns-march-2013-motm. Although it might take a fair bit of modding.

#7 Yep, that's kinda what i'm aiming for ;) Not the looks but the internal layout. I wish Bitfenix would make the Prodigy M this way, rather than the upsidedown motherboard, the front PSU and the fact that the motherboard is located on the wrong side than normal.

Here we go!

First stage: The design.

So, this is just my dream setup for this machine and is kinda overkill, but looks badass  :D This is not going to be the components i will use.

I did this model in SketchUp.

Cutting has begun!

I'm currently working on the motherboard tray and converting it from ATX to M-ATX. I took this tray from an old pc, so it spared me some money.

The blue lines indicate where i need to cut it.  :P

Small update!

First i would like to say thanks for the feedback and the everyone who is following!

I am working on making a good workbench to make cutting and modding easier. It's going to take i while, and we a getting it done by a professional in 14 days.   I will still try and do the work anyways, but it's gonna be at a slow pace, considering i don't have the proper tools and workspace.

Please let me know if you would like to see pictures of minor progress more frequently, or a major progress more rarely/unoften.

more cutting!

I decided to make a template with the dimensions of a motherboard, just to have a visual guideline.

Tray is almost done! Just a little more cutting and it's time to sand her down

The metal plate with the lines is going to be the backpanel of the case, where the motherboard tray will be connected to.  ;)

The prodigod is properly not going to feature the maximus v gene anyway, so i'm currently looking for a z87 m-atx motherboard for this build. What do you guys think?

Gigabyte Sniper M5 (black and green)

Maximus VI Gene (red and black)

Asus gryphon z87 (military theme)

I'm open for more suggestions  :D

I would say the Sniper because of the green and black layout. Not only will it match the titan/780/690/770 (idk which card you will use lol) but as well as the case with added green leds and fans. (:

Go with the black and green with the sniper board! There are enough red and black themes out there already...

Thx for the comments! I've been looking at the sniper, and it's a pretty cool board. I am also leaning towards the Gryphon, since it would damn sweet with a gtx 780 reference and a h100i. Not that it''s going to have a effect of my choice but the TUF logo also matches the bitfenix logo at the front  :D

Also, right now im running blue led in my case, along with blue in my keyboard and mouse. There is a lot to change if i go green ;)

Oh and the Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5 requires 5 slots on the motherboard tray if you want to do SLI and i only have 4!

It's been a while since i last uploaded some pictures. I will hopefully do it later this day.

Now, the case can only hold 4 pci-e slots so no gigabyte m5 sadly

It's all down to the Gryphon z87 and the maximus vi gene.

Should i pay the extra for the audio solution? And what benefits do i get with the maximus over the gryphon?

I like the look of them both, but the gryphon fits the build a little better without the red and black.
