Reccomendations for an average gaming laptop?

(scroll down for tl;dr)

So next year i'm going to university in another country and i will have move into tiny room. That said it means i can't bring my gaming tower pc. It also happens that i need a laptop to take notes since the one i'm using right now is going to die soon (i REALLY don't trust it, has a lot of issues and it's 8 years old). So i thought i might buy a laptop to both suit my needs for gaming, and note-making. I really don't know much about laptop specific specs (gpus and cpus and SODIMM ram) and i don't really know what's a good deal or not. So i ask: do any of you have a reccomendation of a laptop (or laptops) i can use for gaming as much as notemaking (so no monstruous watercooled giant desktop-replacer please) that is in a budget between 800 and 1500 USD? I don't mind running games that aren't on ultra-high 60+fps, but i still play AAA games like the witcher 3 so i need a minimum gaming power.

tl;dr : I need a laptop to take notes and do some gaming on the most recent games (doesn't have to be monstruous 100 fps on ultra-high though) reccomendations? (between 800-1500 USD)

Thanks!

Right, first, which country are you going to get your laptop from? Switzerland or the country you are going to university in?

I plan on getting a Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK within the next couple of weeks. Not sure how that compares price-wise in Canada, but it is hard to beat here in the US for what you get.
