It will be a VERY big downgrade compared to a 7990.
A normal 7970 is 20% faster by default so you are looking at roughly half the performance of a 7990

We still have no concrete launch date on Pascal, "rumors" are saying it's still a few months away.

If you plan on using your system while you wait, and actually want to play games, getting a current gen GPU will tide you over til then.

In that case, get yourself a 380 and wait for Pascal. Those go for around 164$ for the 4GB PowerColor one

IS the powercolor one then silent? one of the reasons i sold the 7990 for was the noise.

MSI and Sapphire are the silent ones - it's not 0dB or anything but it should be quieter than the 7990
