4K Monitor for design and 3D games development? (gaming not an issue)

Budget :  <= £500 

Use : Coding, 3D games development in Unity (maybe unreal 4 soon), photography, design

Main requirements : What I really want is a nice sharp panel with good colour gamut (99% sRGB+)/ accuracy, brightness uniformity.  So no heavy matte coating to diffuse the sharpness.

 

 

Found so far :

LG27MU67  - £389

Its only £389 in the UK yet it has 99% sRGB and possibly the most uniformly bright panel I have ever seen in reviews.

Dell P2715Q  - £453

It has 99% sRGB and a deltaE of <3 .  Warranty seems pretty good too

I'd get the LG. It's decent for its price.

Over and over again, I have given warning to those who wish to buy 4k in 27" that you may look at the monitor first. Because, IMO, all the content for desktop is designed to be seen with 100~120 DPI display.

4k at 27" (168 DPI) will make the text considerably smaller than intended.

 

You mentioned you will use it for coding with Unity. 

While I can see higher resolution is useful, I feel that it won;t help that much giving you more lines of code to be seen.

 

I personally recommend 2x 2560x1440 for work. Or better yet, 34" 3440x1440 if you considering to spend more.

I have a friend who has the LG.  I think will go round when I get my new laptop (current one won't do 4K and my desktop is not easy to move), and run all the different programs I use and see what they look like.  I was hoping Windows 10 had sorted it scaling by now.
