I recently ordered a 1080p 27inch monitor for 144hz

Sweetbox

Was this a mistake?

This is the monitor: AOC G2770PQU

I'm currently using an i5 6600k with a GTX 970

Is it a better idea to get a 1440p monitor at 60hz? Will my computer be able to handle that?

Or is it better to go with a 1080p monitor at 144hz

Bonus:

I need 2 Vesa arms for my desk, but it's a thin glass desk, and need one that will clamp all the way, does anyone have any recommendations?

I think you made the right decision. Difference between 60 and 144 Hz is light and day, but 1080 to 1440 is not a massive difference.

Ah okay awesome. Are there any major performance differences for 1440p and I've heard some people complaining about pixel density on 27inch 1080p monitors. Is it that noticeable?

nothing wrong with 1080p but on <24" it will look kinda blurish due to the low ppi

Yes personally I think 27" is too big for 1080p, its not that sharp and looks pix elated imo, 22" is ideal for 1080p, 24" at a stretch

1440p at 60 is quite demanding, a 970 would struggle above low/medium details

Yeah 1440p has about a 33% higher pixel density. It will be noticeable, but nothing too major.

I would've gone 1440p. Don't really want to be having high idle clock speed issues.

27" 1080p 144hz, meh. Rather get something IPS, 144hz and 27" 1440p.

The only thing is, at 330 bucks for 27inch , 1080p and 144hz , the price is right.

Anything with all 3 is way to expensive for one monitor.

Do you have any recommendations for a 27inch 1440p at 144hz?

Also, to run this kind of monitor, would it be wise to grab another 970 for SLI?

They did reduce that chance peeps are getting it on single monitor. Some of the peeps affected are idling at 135mhz but some have reported it to not be working and even less likely if you have more than one monitor.

Its not really an issue for the 970(since the tdp is really low). The one that are heavily affected are the 980 Tis and higher tdp cards.

Thanks for your help guys, I think I'm going to go with the 27 inch monitors.

Does anyone have any info on a good pair of VESA mounts, or a good dual monitor one?

If you are set on the 27" then go for it but I would really opt for 24" for 1080p. If you're looking at 1080p 144hz then I would opt for these: http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2411Z-Monitor-Supported-seamless/dp/B00ITORITU
