Hey guys,

I'm a bit confused with regards to how to tell a card is better if you ignore clock speed. Which would be better a 980 with a higher core clock (say 1.27Ghz) or a 980ti with a lower clock (1.10 Ghz)? What is the advantage of having the "ti"?

Thanks

The 980ti is based on the same chip as the titan X just with less vram and slightly lower core count.

the 980ti is faster because its basically a cut down version of the Titan x, and core clock doesn't matter much when comparing cards of different chipsets.

The Ti version has a different, faster GPU and 50% more VRAM. As such, a 'slower' 980ti (lower clocks) will still greatly outperform a GTX 980. Also, advertised clock speeds are unreliable, as the card usually runs much faster.  Luke has a video on this.

the 980ti isn`t really a advanced 980, it`s a different chip entirely (which is a bit weird IMO), from a Titan X, naming scheme isn`t the best with most company`s

to game or not to game, that`s the question

First off ignore the 980 completely and look at the R9 fury

Then you can see here relative performance

And you saw those frame time numbers, right? Why I don't like the Furys

If anyone asks you never saw me.
