its more towards 80W. you also have to factor in that it puts a lot more heat in the case and its louder

yes get the i5 6400 with a 970

... It's about the same level of loudness and will never go above 80 deg C if you don't get Asus or Gigabrick. Also, it's more towards 40W.

seen the reviews. it's just super quiet and low temperatures and just an amazing over clocker

The reason I like pushing the 390 all over people instead of the 970 is because of (mainly) the price difference and the VRAM. $330 for the 970, $294 ($274 with rebate) for 390 (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor-video-card-axr93908gbd5ppdhe). Also, when you have two cards that perform essentially the same would you pay more for one just to get 40-70W less power consumption?

It's a great motherboard, customer service sucks though. I only have surround sound through the optical out. Gigabyte refuses to fix it.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

970*? Even if they're the same I'd still get the 390 because 8GB VRAM is nice to have.

You know that's why AMD duct taped that VRAM on there, right? So you'd ignore the shortcomings.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Both the 970 and 390 have shortcomings. At 1080p I'd take the 970. Nvidia drivers have less overhead so will help your i5 perform better and you won't hit the 3.5g of usable VRAM wall at that resolution. Which it's very hard to do that anyway as games use the VRAM available, not a set amount.

BUT, the 970 MUST be overclocked to see it's true power. If you don't want to overclock the 390 is a much better choice.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

The 390 does pull ahead of the 970 at higher resolutions though :P

as i said, playing only at 1080p max settings haha so 970 it is. and i am planning to OC for sure to have better performance in games

2k max for me (in future) won't go in 4k haha too much even for 1 high end card...
