Problem with GPU clock/usage GTX 970 Strix

Hi everyone!

I looked a lot on internet for my problem, and nobody seams to have a fix expect reinstalling windows. The problem is, and it happens at random for all I know, is that my GPU clock don't go full speed. For example, I'm playing heroes of the storm, everything runs very fine. I launch XCOM, and the gpu clock stays at 715mhz or 899mhz (speed is random) and does not move. GPU use is also a 11% or 15%....The temperatures are fine CPU at 55c and GPU at 60c...My power settings in windows are at performance. In the NVIDIA control pannel I choose : Prefer performance under power setting. Can anybody help? 

 

Here are my specs:

i5-2500k @4.4ghz

GTX 970 Strix (asus)

PSU: 750W

Mobo: Gigabyte  GA-P67A-UD3-B3

Return everything to stock clockspeeds and try again.

What's your CPU usage when playing?

 

It may be bottlenecking but it shouldn't.

PC:

Yeah, there's a reason why we don't suggest Asus cards.

Do what @Majestic said and see if anything changes.

Bottleneck is not and issue since m'y card can reach 100% load, il try to put everything back to stock speed and play some games, since the problem is random that's what's frustrating. The problem appeared in the last 2 drivers packages for some reason...I'm at the dentist right now, gonna hit you up guys when I get back and do some test

If removing the OC doesn't make any change, try running DDU to wipe out all current drivers, then reinstall the latest driver and try again.

I believe they have a 3 year warranty. Surprised the 970 Strix is not a great card since my 980 Strix has been nothing short of amazing for me thus far.

That's the problem. Most Dutch retailers, for example, get their hardware from germany. It's cheaper.

 

ASUS Says; your card is from Germany, You live in the Netherlands, fuck your warranty. Their 3 year warranty is windowdressing. They never honor it, and always find some way to weasel out from under it.

 

As for the 970 Strix, it's extremely TDP limited.

The 970 Strix is the worst 970 there is, it's practically throttled by design, it can't overclock worth shit.

The power delivery for the card is just abysmal, they went hardcore power saving mode with it and it's terrible as a result.

Also no VRM cooling

 

Looks cool though.
