What is holding it back?

I just started folding about a day and a half ago and my 6870 never uses more than 20-50% of its power in gpuz even now its bouncing between 0-20%. Any idea whats going on?

Maybe check the slider if it's on "Full". :)

Well then... how long does it take you to fold a project? if it's like 10-12 hrs , you are good (at least that's how long my HD7770 takes, yours is better so in theory should be less). If not however, wait for someone else to answer you :)

do you have the latest drivers installed? and read the FAQ to see how to enter the client-type=advanced option to get the latest work units that will utilize the power of your card, it's in the 2nd post in the faq topic

if you still have the same issue after that, post here again

Yes, typically the wacky power usage is drivers - make sure you have the latest ones.
