Hi I recently bought a new Hard-rive - 1 terabyte, its 5200 RPM and I was wondering how I can overclock it to get it higher so I can have better gaming performance. Also should I upgrade my hard drive cooling system for overclocking it?

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

I'm not sure if you are serious or making a poor attempt at a troll. In the off-case this is serious. You can't. A hard drives speed control is hard coded into it's on-board controller firmware. The only way it would be possible to do this would be to write a completely custom HDD firmware, and even then that would be ill-advised as you'd be operating outside the tested parameters of the drive.

If you want faster storage, just go buy an SSD.

What it if I overheat it?? wont that make it spin any faster!

Splice a SATA power connector into a wall outlet and see what happens (fire, smoke, bang, injury).

In all seriousness, this is not a thing. Your HDD will go at one speed only, no exceptions. Get an SSD, or at least at 7200rpm drive.

I believe that you can overclock  the sata bus through BCLK overclock but don't quote me on that but that won't help because you have hard drive get an ssd and storage doesn't effect gaming performance

Short answer : no.

You would need to replace the motor in the hard drive, and rewrite the firmware to compensate.

In theory ssd's can be overclocked ( the nand chips and controller at least) , but that brings only very small performance gains.

If you want faster storage , get an ssd , or at leasta 7200rpm drive. I know how it feels to use a 5200rpm drive for everyday use , and believe me , it's not a nice feeling
