A Good Liquid Cooler

Go to solution Solved by colinreay,

If you want watercooling, check this out (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/cryorig-cpu-cooler-a40.) I haven't really seen reviews on the Lepa, but the Cryorig is OEM'd by Asetek, so you should be getting pretty similar performance to other Asetek coolers like the NZXT Kraken and the Corsait H90/100 series. Plus, it has a cool fan on the block, which might help, especially if you have a M.2 ssd near the processor socket.

I'm looking for a liquid cooler that is around £50-£70. I want one that is know to be good cooling, and can handle atleast a reasonable overclock. I've got my eyes on two coolers at the moment.

UK amazon please :)

I also need it for LGA1150 socket.

And another thing; why are the smaller radiators still really expensive, even if they are supposedly the same cooling range of a stock cooler? Some of these 120mm AIO's are as expensive as 240mm AIOS!

Also, one with white or red LED's would be preferred :)

Thanks!

Not really, they perform equally but the air cooler will always be more silent

This seems like a good cooler. But with it being 2 fans, surely that would be louder than a average AIO?

an AIO has more moving parts, so the pump makes noise as well. Both an AIO and air cooler have the same amount of fans, they're just in different places.

the air cooler has fewer points of failure as well

What does OEM stand for?

Also, as the price was low and a lot of reviews strongly recommended it, I've ordered that. Thank you very much everyone for helping me out!

Also, would it be dangerous-ish to put the AIO fans onto my cases fan speed controller? 5v 7v and 12v

the pump on the a40 is very loud according to reviews, and doesn't give much cooling advantage over an air cooler

I've also heard that the pump is quiet. So perhaps it may depend on the RPM and the load.

OEM stands for Original Equipment manufacturer. Asetek and CoolIT are the big names in AIO water cooling, and are the guys behind a lot of AIOs right now (to my knowledge, they primarily make the waterblock and pump combos). Some notable ones Asetek makes is the Cryorig A series, Corsair H series, NZXT Kraken series, and is found in many of the custom gaming computers you can buy (HP, Cyberpower, etc.)

Yeah, I mean it might have just been a bad sample. I'm guessing the pump on the Cryorig is very similar or the same as the NZXT and Corsair AIO pumps, and those seem to do fine, so I don't see why this would be any different, unless I'm missing something...

And your case, if they didn't have it in a case would make a large difference.
