Good Idea to overclock my RL2455hm 60hz monitor?

Rilo

I play a lot of csgo, rainbow six seige, and call of duty blackops 3. I have a gtx 970 and a core i5-4690k. I am saving up to buy a 144hz monitor in the near future. My monitor currently the Benq Rl2455hm 1080p at 60hz. Is it a good idea to overclock the refresh rate and how high or should I just wait untill the new monitor. Is also worth  to get 1440p monitor instead?

As far as I concerned, you can't overclock that monitor. This isn't as simple as OCing a CPU or GPU

Getting a 1440p monitor will do the opposite of what you want.

Also, some monitors overclock better than others, and some can barely do it or even not at all. It depends on your specific model. Honestly I wouldn't mess with it unless it's a model that is known to have effective and safe OC results. Definitely don't try it if you are planning on getting a 144Hz soon anyway.

You can overclock all monitors, it's just telling the GPU to run the monitor at a higher refresh rate.

OP, a 15hz OC is safe, but if you can go higher the better. Things feel really smooth at 75hz compared to 60hz.

idk

I could get my G257HU up about 20hz you just got to go slowly when you push the refresh rate up as a jump of 2 may not work but almost all panes can be OCed to different  degrees.

There's very little harm in overclocking a monitor.  It's even easier with a Nvidia GPU because Nvidia includes a Custom resolution utility in the Nvidia Control Panel.

i5-4690k@4.5GHz || MSI GTX 970 || MSI z97 Gaming 5 || NZXT Kraken x61 || WD Black 1TB || Crucial MX100 || 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro || Corsair RM750 || NZXT H440 || Corsair k70 RGB mx browns || Acer H236HL || ViewSonic VX2255wm-4

Oh I see, so you can force that to the GPU through driver/software I believe, because after I typed that I wondered why some monitors can run at 75 Hz while it's stock refresh rate is only 60. Thanks for correction :)
