Which is better?

So i got a motherboard (Z77-D3H) for free from my friend. This board has a 1155 socket and i need a processor for it. I was searching for best possible option and found these two proccesors (i3-3220 and i5-2500).
the i3 one costs half the price (35eu) of a i5 (about 80eu), but the i5 is a bit more powerful. I hope someone can help me choose the one who has best price to performance ratio. Thank you in advance :)

Get the i5. It's a quad core. 80eu for that chip is a good deal.

The 2500 is hands down way better. Definitely worth the extra cost

The i5 will be better all around but the i3 still wouldn't be a pushover. It all comes down to what you want to do. If you are heavily gaming oriented then you will want the i5. Just casual use you can't go wrong with the i3.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

The two extra cores can really come in handy, for anything more taxing than using a word processor really. Also the i5 will be more 'future proof'.

+1 for i5

Go get your hands on i5 if you are not in budget & you are going to play games and etc. But for normal usage i3 is more than enough.

i3 - you will get hyper threading - hyper threading is better than non hyper threading but still more cores is better than hyper threading.

      status - launched

i5 - 4 core and turbo boost - when your application is using only one core it will increase the performance of that core by 3.3 to 3.7 GHz

       status - end of life

Thank you for all the replies! :)

I will be using this computer for gaming and then maybe will use it for a home server. You made my mind clear now, I will get the i5 :)
