i'm sorry for the noobish question i couldn't find it on the forum already but, my friend bought a computer with no windows and he installed it and used it for a year until i realized he only has a 32bit version he said he used the wrong disc and tried to reinstall but it said his product key was already in use. He has everyhting backed up how should he go about doing this?? Thanks

If the PC has no more than 3-4 gigs ram, don't bother at all. When you reinstall you have 30 days trail. Try and then add the key. If it's the same PC it shouldn't have any problems. If however you have problems, call Microsoft and tell them your situation. They will send you a new key to activate.

After installing the 64 bit version, you can call MS to reset the key to re-use if it still doesn't work.
