which one !!

Go to solution Solved by SirWendall,

I like my GTX 970 SSC. Never used a AMD card but it does have more VRAM. For me I like Nvidia's features better but that's just me.

It's still inaccurate. The R9 390 is arguably better in most scenarios.

970! I have a asus pg278Q 144HZ G-SYNC panel and I play AAA titles at 60 fps+. The only game that gives me issues is armored warfare which I turned down to high settings. I have the msi gaming 970 and under max load it gets around 65C which is decent and it isn't loud. For 1080p a 970 will kill everything.

Just get it with a good cooler and it'll last longer with its 8GB of VRAM as opposed to 3.5GB ;)

You can argue which is better between the 970 and 390 all day(as evident by any post about these 2 on this forum) but the fact is they are both good cards, and truthfully you aren't going to really notice much of a difference between them.

Between the 780(if you can still even find one) and the 970, I think the 970 is the clear winner.

Err... why not? Also, I just realized I missed a space in that post and it is killing me.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

People usually don't OC their laptop GPUs :P

And with the new drivers (I think) it's impossible to.

Is sticking with the green team really such a priority? I don't get people like this - if something has better value for the money why would you not choose it instead? It's like Apple v. Android all over again... (go apple for the hardware + software integration)

Having said that, if you absolutely need the PhysX integration or CUDA then by all means, go nVidia. If not, go AMD.

Because there isn't a difference in value, only a perceived difference.

The issue is consumers are trained to only consider one thing when making a purchase. It's easier on them so they accept the training, and easier on the retailer because they can focus their advertising. But reality doesn't work that way.

Everyone goes nuts over fps, but fps isn't the only thing to consider when deciding the value of something. Frame time is also crucial, and AMD has completely ignored frame time in their pursuit of fps. But even fps wise the 970 when overclocked can beat a overclocked 390 because of the headroom. A majority of the differences between the two cards are completely subjecting in their value, yet people like yourself decide based on their personal preference and decide on their opinion being fact, and use the normalcy of the one factor chosen to try and add validity to their claim.

The value of both is subjective, and as all the qualitative factors equal out, their value is left to person considering the purchase.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

I understand the importance of frame time, but do you have a source as to where you get the information that AMD has neglected improving microstutter performance? From personal, empirical evidence, both brands are comparable in terms of daily use, and there are no benchmarks per se for measuring frame time AFAICT.
