gtx 950 or 960?

I'm going for a budget gaming PC. Mostly playing dota 2, but also wants GPU that is good enough to play games like Tomb Raider or Farcry 4

I was planning to get 950 because I remember linus said that it has something that improves moba games. But then a lot of people say they would rather get 960 with just 20 usd more.
I'm new to PC building so...what should I get?

The 950 will work for MOBA's but will struggle with Tomb Raider and Farcry. 960 will hold it's own, but is not really good value. 380 is generally preferred in that price range.

Edit: Oh well, a 4GB R9 380 for 169,- is actually better. Didn't see that it had 4GB of VRAM...

960 4 GB wouldn't be a bad choice. I think the 380 still has better memory bandwidth. I really don't get why they hampered the 960 like they did, but if you can get a cheaper price with a 960 4 GB why not.

Nah, both card will work great for MOBA and will struggle on demanding titles unless you drop the graphic settings to Medium-High or even lower imo.

If yes then ill kick 950 out and only compare between 960 and 380

I ran Farcry 4 fine at 1080p / high settings with my old 760 2 GB. Granted, FPS wasn't always 60 but the 380 isn't a top tier card either.

in can case they need to add a GTX960Ti to the family.

It should because it's an old driver tweak to reduce input lag iinm.

I usually pretend this price point doesn't exist, because in so many games now 2GB is not enough for 1080p anymore. But, there is the R9 380 4GB version.

 

If nothing fits your budget, the best money spent would be a used 280x, 290 or 290x. I got my 290x for about $220.

I think i prefer 960 tho....its cheaper than 380 in my country
For 960, should i be getting ASUS or gigabyte or EVGA?
