RAID rules

EMENCII

Hello everyone,

I thought that since I have a 500GB external HDD lying around, I'd RAID it with my WD black (500GB) in raid 0. Is it even possible to make a raid between SATA and USB?

Thank you,

EMENCII

Im not sure if it is possible, but even if it is, the speed would be limited to the slowest drive, in this case the external one.

not possible i think. you could rip out the drive from the external HDD and possbly put in in your PC but there is no guarantee that would work at all

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

It should be possible. At least, through software RAID it should work.

Wouldn't advise it, though. RAID 0 is never really a good idea, and even worse with external or somewhat "funky" combination of drives.

not possible either, the external one is usb3 right from the drive's pcb, is not converted from sata....
