Photo Editing Build

UniquePhoto

Okay, so this is my first computer build and I'm a photographer. I'm having someone help me pick out parts that are best for me doing photo editing and to stay around my budget, which is $1,500. This build is a little more expensive but pretty awesome.

I'd like to keep Intel over AMD, a 4TB memory, 32 or 16GB ram and have a graphics card. Oh, it'd also be awesome if it stayed wireless. And an ATX motherboard.

This is the build list. I'd like a second opinion on it. I mean it's awesome. I'm just still learning and I like multiple points of view. Thanks!

What's your display set up? Are you doing this professionally or as a hobby? Your display is going to be more important than the hardware for photo editing, it's not too intensive a task as video editing is.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I've been looking at monitors but haven't chosen yet. But I was looking at the Asus PA248Q monitor for like 300 bucks. I heard nec and eizo is good. I'd like to stay around 300 if I can. I heard to have atleast 24-27 inch minimum, matte and ips. And it's been a hobby but I'm turning it into a business, so it's gonna be much more professional. And yeah, video editing is ridiculous. Lol.

Includes a 27" 4k IPS display, with 99% adobe rgb, just don't actually buy it from amazon as it's marked up there for some reason, you really don't need X99 for photoediting, and a 380 is going to be faster than a 950 or a 960 by a decent margin for gaming, and you can just run games at 1080p

display is fixed, should still cover adobe RGB

On X99 a quad-channel memory kit (4 modules) is optimal. If you are using Adobe products, they will use the gpu to accelerate various functions. Many other packages do the same. So a better gpu makes good sense. More memory will also improve performance. As will a larger ssd.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

But now your build would need to be altered to fit that in under budget.

Also that's only 1440p, it should be fine, but 4k would be a lot better as it's more than double the pixel count.

No it would not need to be, he is only asking for a build

But many things people asking for builds might not consider which is why many of my posts ask a ton of questions and are seemingly contrarian. Especially when it comes to people about to buy a 980ti for their 1080p displays.

He originally asked for a $1500 build and to compromise over a 4k monitor it is not an option

It's not exactly a gaming rig though, a high end 4k display is going to be more important for photo work over a higher end GPU

As for a monitor and graphics card goes.  Will you print at a lab or be purchasing your own printer.   Put this perspective into a timeline.

When and if.  How accurate do you want your colors to be asus pro art and Dell ultrasharp are great for starter in the Srgb color space.

If you ever want to use a wider gamut such as adobe RGB.  Then a 10 bit gpu such as a quadro should and could be considered. To learn more.  Here is a forum article

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2605177/nvidia-titan-gtx-980-gtx-970-support-bit-color.html

my advice is the quadro are known to be suggested more often.

Figure out if you want to do this now or down the road.  My suggestion is to do this down the road.

Here is a solid corsair asus  X 99 M WS which contains the wireless as you requested.

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/E.Beadle/saved/qGNdnQ

it id 1527.29 on newegg and amazon without the monitor, os, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc etc.

typically I prefer the K95 keyboard due to all the programs and other corsair peripherals for an overall pleasing look to compliment your work space.

With this being a tighter budget. You may want to use what you already have and upgrade when you can

For an idea of what I enjoy using to spoil myself abd other content creators.

 https://pcpartpicker.com/user/E.Beadle/saved/CNZNnQ

the monitor and other various tools change based ln thier budget and needs .

The key thing I consider for my builds is color schemes, looks and uniformity.

Like i would even change the grpahics card to a one that is still NVIDIA gpu made by asus. In a price range that gives you a good bang for your buck. If the performance is proper.

Just to have the asus gpu match my asus mobo.

I would definitly stick with the corsair 400c,. Air 540 or go with an air 240 (smaller thzn the 540).  Depending on your desktop size.

Also make sure you measure with the kind of measuring tapes that suit stores and fabric stores use for your chord layouts so you can grasp if you will need extra chords or not.

P.s sorry for the late response maddie. I spent the day remodeling my office for a different deskspace
