Chromebooks. Are they worth it?

The only thing I'm going to be using it for is web browsing and netflix. 

This model for example.

Would I be able to have multiple tabs open, HD youtube videos, HD netflix without any sort of lag? Or will chrome os preform like any-other low end windows laptop?

It will preform about the same as a low end windows laptop. The big advantage is that it can't get most viruses and its hard to screw it up.

i needed a cheap laptop for school

all windows laptops for 300 dollars are utter shit, with bad sound and terrible screens

then i found the toshiba chromebook 2

a 13 inch, full 1920x1080 IPS display, skullcandy speakers, and a great keyboard

i installed crouton to run linux alongside chromeos for anything that requires an os

Chromebooks are cheap, and reliable. They are worth the money, for what you do.

Toshiba Chromebook 2 is an excellent choice if you just needs the basics of laptop for web browsering, video streaming and have great battery life. They have some productivity apps that are Google version of Microsoft Office Apps. If they fits your needs and you don't need any other program installed, I think worth it.

My dad has a chrome book. He got it because he wanted his own computer. I didnt want to have to fix it all the time as he is not very tech savy. It has been very easy for him to use. All he does is surf the web for the most part. Also if you reliy on google services it could be an excellent machine. The only reason I have a Windows laptop is because I need MS office for school. If I didnt need MS office I probably would have gone to a chrome book. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
