Problem with GTX 970 G1

Hey ppl

 

i gave my friend my old pc. now we bought a new graphiccard for it and i've tried to install it, the graphiccard now doesn't work or show any sign of life. the mainboard got 2 pci lanes, it doesnt work in other one either. 

 

mainboard: asrock z77 extreme 6

graphiccard: gigabyte 970 g1

PSU: Club 3D 1000 Watt

 

CPU: i5 3570K (cooled by corsair h80i)

Ram: Corsair platinum 2x 8 gb 2133mhz

Does the other card work if you put it back in? If so see Gigabrick post.

Could you please provide PSU wattage? I am doubtful it's the power supply but it is definitely possible. Could just be a DOA graphics card, which is pretty rare for me anyways. Hope you get this resolved!

It's not a PSU limitation.

I have been running a OC GTX 970 on a CX500 for 6 months.

Your graphics card may be dead, it being from Gigabyte increases the chances of that being the case.

so it's not the PCI lanes or motherboard?

Only way to know for sure is try another known working graphics card, or use the iGPU.

the pc works and he allready uses its just the gpu doesnt work, i took the gpu with me and try to put it in my pc and see if it works

Since when is the 970 G1 bad?

It's been one of the most popular 970's since release since it's one of the best overclocking 970's.

Unless something happened recently with their quality control, I don't know what everyone is talking about.

There wasn't a big news story or discovery recently that I've heard of or anything

my rig is full of gigabyte stuff, i actually liked them and had no problem, thats why i recommened them, but i will try to get another one at my dealer

True, but you and others were bashing their products, which are usually some of the best, at least on the Nvidia side.

No, not the best. Popular yes, but far from the best. EVGA is the best for Nvidia. The FTW+ is a better graphics card than the G1. Gigabyte is banking on no one making sure their products are still good.
