Whats this icon mean?

My dad has this icon on his phone, he wants to know what it is. I dont know, Its the icon that looks like a keyboard with a phone over it.

According to google:  that is the TTY for hearing impaired setting, you can turn that off in Settings>Phone>TTY

 Almost as cool as my temps

According to this, it is TTY (Teletype).

" Your iPhone is set up to work with a teletype (TTY) machine, which is used by those who are hearing- or speech-impaired. You need an optional Apple iPhone TTY Adapter (suggested retail price $19) to connect your iPhone to a TTY machine"
