Hi all. I have just recently built a gaming pc. But I am used to using the ps3 and other consoles. And when I play pc games I want my gpu to be nice and cool so it does not get basically too hot. Does anyone recommend certain fan speed % by the temperature so then I can make it still quite cool when playing games. I have a R9 380 and also would like to add should I change my core clock speed and the memory clock or does things like that effect the heat in games.

Thank You

You can undervolt the card for sure. But you will loose fps for sure. How hot does the card actually get?

Why is heat such a concern? GPUs are meant to get hot, and its perfectly fine unless temps aren't normal. What are your current temperatures like?

Gaming - Ryzen 9800X3D | 64GB 6400mhz cl30 9070 XT

Homelab - many servers...constantly changing.

3970X/256GB - 5950X/128GB ECC - 5600G/96GB - 3400GE/16GB - 3400GE/16GB

Just keep it on auto, making your own fan curve with MSI afterburner isn't too hard but I just leave it on auto personally as it does a good job aleady.

380 is probably fine up to like 85oC

I myself place a priority on temperatures, and the only way to ensure low temperatures is with liquid cooling. But that would be a waste with a 380. Test your case airflow with a smoke stick or incense, and make sure it's optimized. Save your pennies for a Hybrid graphics card.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

That's probably the lowest temps you'll see it get.

A custom fan profile helps, but I myself prioritize low fan noise. But if you stay at or below 50% it shouldn't be a problem. I'd say ramp the fan speed up to 40% at 60c, and 50% at 70c.

See if that helps and if you're OK with the level of fan noise.

Thanks I do agree I prefer to have it quieter but also I like it to be within a range of the gpu to still be cool.
