I have a I7-4790 cpu @3.60GHz, 12GB of RAM, the GTX 745 OEM, power supply is a 450W

Get a reputable brand of a 500W PSU (unless that PSU is a good one)

It shoudl then handle most cards e.g R9380 / GTX 960

Hey guys its about time for me to upgrade from my GTX 745 OEM, to something better. The card i was looking at was the MSI GTX 750 ti which is around $135. I was wondering if this gives good preference for the price, and if not any suggestions that would fit my $200 price cap; provide at least 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, and 1 DVI; and fall under 65W power consumption.

If you try and stay under 65w you wont see a worthwhile improvement.

Getting something decent that uses that little power is going to be a problem for you I think.  With that said the 750ti is not a bad little card.. I helped my brother in law tweak his fallout 4 settings with his to get the game looking very nice in 1080 at about 45-50fps.

A 950? There's one going for around the same price: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn950wf2oc2gd

OP wants a max TDP of 65w not 90w

750 Ti is the only 75W GPU that is worth a damn. 950 is 110W, 960 is 135W (Post OC from GPU Boost 2.0) and 380 is 140W

Just now, TheRandomness said:

TDP isn't power consumption. They are linked though.

Max power of teh cards still is 90w though

I would recommend a 950.

Straight up enough for competitive games like CS:GO and DOTA 2.

And All games at least on medium settings 60fps.(Few exceptions)

Since it's an oem card, I assume this is a prebuilt system? If it's is, then the included power supply is probably crap. Upgrade that first. You don't have to spend a ton. I recently purchased a vs450 and the quality is actually really good considering the price. Seriously. A cheap name brand power supply is better than pretty much any oem power supply.

The only card that uses less than 90W (that would make sense to buy today) is a 750Ti: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_950_Gaming/28.html

I know, so i questioned why people were suggesting a 950.

The best option for this guy is to scrap his old PSU (keep it as spare)

And buy a reputable 500w model (I suggest a larger one, say, 650 watts for future upgrades.

Thanks for the help!

You could just ask us for a good power supply, in which we would respond with this list:

Pick something to suit your budget from tiers 1 to 4.
