Ugh GTA V is Bottlenecking

Go to solution Solved by werto165,

The CPU affects that? I can try I guess. And like MSAA and everything or just the anti-aliasing?

I would try FXAA(if you personally like it I think it looks kinda shitty) or non at all, when I had my 660ti MSAA was a killer even 2x 290 is a lot faster but it's worth a go.

@byalexandr I found this online: https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/gta-v-prioritizer-huge-performance-boost-on-low-mid-end-machines

basically set the game in the task manager when it's running to high priority and it should help. it should be under the details tab on the task manager.

So my rig runs great and my 290 is an absolute powerhouse, I get like 110FPS avg in stuff like Battlefront. In GTA V however, my FPS is stuck at a measly 30-40. Even when I turn down the settings to high the case is still the same, and it points to my lil' old i3. Is there anything I can do to reduce the bottleneck for now (I can't just go and get a better CPU right now)?

Do a bit of base clock overclocking? Reduce resolution?

I can't OC even with BCLK. AsRock is dumb and won't give me control of it.

And I can't reduce resolution, that's the best way to fuck up the look of a game. Even if it means I get better FPS.

900p with sharpening (if that's possible) looks okay well it does with witcher 3 when I played it with my 660ti, are you sure that you don't have any of the advanced effects on like long shadows and what not.

Ewwww no

I don't like playing at anything besides native.

I would take 60FPS over resolution but that's just me. it doesn't look THAT bad.

I do want 60FPS, but I'm not willing to change the resolution. Is there anything else?

Closing other programs I guess. Chrome kills FPS in games for me anyway, could try borderless or windowed mode doubt it will do anything but it's worth a shit.

Perhaps the Steam Overlay...

Its effect is probably minimal, I wouldn't bother it would be too much hassle probably.

When I had my i3 and 280, I could get a solid 60fps at mostly maxed settings with all the aa options turned very low.

You have a bottleneck but it isn't that bad, you will be able to get a solid fps at high if you sacrifice aa settings.

All I can think is to try and keep the density down. Make sure vehicle, people, etc. is all the way to minimum since there's a lot going on at once in GTA V which is probably what's so hard on the CPU.

Holy crap that bumped my FPS up to like 90-100 avg. Thanks!
