Main Rig Mod

(Sorry I don't name my builds :P)

Ok so basically I did a build log back in August and this is going to be much shorter compared to that, as in I will be done with the rig tomorrow!

Why is that?

Good question! Well I had no idea how this fan mod would turn out and did not want to update the thread if the job looked bad or didn't work as to plan so yea...

Here is a link to the original build log so you can see how everything has changed over the past few months: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/430598-inwin-q2000-main-rig-rebuild-log-plus-bonus-build-by-poohy14/

So enough text, here is a spoiler of what is done :D

Arriving tomorrow I hope :P

So your rig will be in the bottom chamber thing with the PSU on that ledge thingy. So what're you going to do with the massive amount of space above the PSU? :P

I assume you have seen the pictures on the old build log but basically that one 80mm mount up top above the power supply is now a 120mm so I am just waiting for that NF12 to come tomorrow to put there, as for the rest of the space all the hard drives are going to be in the 5.25 bays along with the cluster of cables since I decided to remove the 3.5 drive cage which should help a lot with airflow :D

I've actually got a few cases that could do with a mod as well-especially the one that housed my Mum's Celeron 433+Riva TNT2. Its only got the single front 80mm fan cage and it uses the PSU to extract air (Its a Windows 98 case through and through).

Well damn that's good. I'd need to clean up all bar 1 of my old cases to get anything close to that. And mine will be keeping its original Pentium II Celeron sticker (though its sacrilege putting the sticker from a Pentium II flogging Celeron in a case that would have a Pentium IV, or 2x Pentium III 1000EB, although I did struck gold with them).

Yea this is the good old case I found the dual socket 370 Supermicro system in :D Quite a lucky find but the case was something I had been dreaming of finding for a very long time so that is what I was most excited for :)

What's next, side panel?

In the future I plan on moving over to the X99 platform or whatever is out at the time with either AMD or Intel, possibly then I would get a side window modded but most likely it is going to stay the same :)

But, what about with your awesome legacy boards? You do know that what you have can't be replaced (like mine).

Oh yes for sure, I think I will just leave it. Keep it looking original so when I do make it into a more powerful workstation it fits the bill :D
