In need of RAM. Good RAM at that.

Hi guys,

So my old, "Komputer Bay" RAM is dying and I need some more. The issue is, I've never handled memory before. I know about the clock, latency, DDR-revisions and such, but need help narrowing down. So what is the highest performance memory for the following factors:

- DDR3

- 16GB (dual channel)

- Black and White

- Design will go well with my NZXT H440 (see image)

Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks guys! :D

They look good, but that would be either 32GB, too expensive, or kneecapping capacity. :(

Thanks, think I'll save up a bit longer then and drop on 32GB.

why can't you do two 2x4 kits?

or just go with one kit of 2x8 Black or 2x8 white depending on your motherboard

It would be less wasteful to get 2x8GB white Or black sticks and leave the other slots open for the future.  No point in wasting money.

You could buy a 2x8GB kit now and the other later if you'd like to.  Kingston makes great looking and quality RAM.

by the time you need 32gb on a non-Workstation desktop you'll already be upgrading to a platform with DDR4

if not the DDR3 will get too expensive and you'll be upgrading to DDR4 anyway

Okay, point taken. Think what I'll do is take on-board what Weak1ings and you have said. I'll grab a 16GB kit of white Fury X, then leave it at that. :)

MSIs XPOWER and MPOWER yellow is pretty neat, but good luck on matching other components to that

also Gigabyte has quite unique orange on their SOC boards

I have an MPOWER  though with the exception of the "Audio Boost" light, all the yellow parts are plasti-dipped white.
